There is no doubt that evidence based is everything in science. However, as part of the community, I look at my clients holistically. Agreed, there isn’t any evidence, or sound ground to recommend homeopathy! But, that’s not what has happened here!
Years of caring for my clients and community, alongside EBM and P lines, I have used herbal and alternative therapies, as well as OTC products, to help them. My interest and use of this has shown great health and well-being outcomes in my work.
Joseph Bush, rightfully has stated his expertise on this matter. My expertise is getting positive health outcomes from my clients and community. Anxiety, stress, depression, stop smoking, IBS, allergies, pain, aches … the list goes on. Preventative health is important to me. This is evident in my daily work.
I will not argue, nor throw, the information collected on Silicea, and its uses in digestion.
Many years ago, I was criticised for using Echinacea – now the product is licensed!
Is pharmacy really just a science, or is community pharmacy for the well-being of the community. In no shape, or form, have I excluded the use of EBM, or conventional pharmacy lines. I am merely sharing what I have seen give positive health outcomes with my alternative hat on.
Joseph; in a commercial world, daily community pharmacists are faced with the demands of patient choice, and care. Looking at our so called [P] lines, we have products for symptomatic relief, that in your books, don’t have any evidence! Does this mean all high street community pharmacies should stop the sales of products that help clients get through a duration of some ill-health?
What’s important too, is the survival of us independent contractors in the community. If we don’t help our clients with the correct, & informed, choices of alternative health care … then this is certainly the end for community pharmacy. Pharmacists are in an ideal position to guide clients, seeking alternative health, towards products which have shown success. It’s not Homeopathy that’s being recommended here!
Focus on negatives if you must Joseph Bush, but I believe in focusing on the positives brought to my community and their health.

So @DearPharmacist I saw this in the Flybe inflight magazine this morning and, quite frankly, I was appalled… pic.twitter.com/aWw8KQeIzB
